Chairlift - Amanaemonesia
A few years ago, I saw these kids play a show at The M Room here in Philly, opening for Ariel Pink on a swealtering muggy summer night. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but as it turned out was one of the best live shows I’ve ever experienced. Caroline Polachek and her band were fresh out of Colorado, having moved to NYC to pursue their musical dreams which were about to spark later that fall when their single “Bruises” blew up on an iPod Nano commercial. They absolutely mesmerized the room. It was so clear they had deep wells of untapped power. Ariel was, as you might imagine, completely un-hinged but insanely good and writhing on the grimy floor amongst the audience while he sang.
But I digress. Listen to this single. You’ll see. Watch for this song to drop on Terrible Records in 7” vinyl, and likely more.
